Propulsion Design Engineer
Location: Kent, Washington
The Propulsion Design Engineer will be part of a team responsible for design and development of fluid systems that meet the requirements of Blue Origin's launch vehicle programs.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and test of launch vehicle fluid systems including propellant feed systems, pressurization systems, reaction control systems, etc.
- Development of 3D models, assembly & detail drawings, and interface control documents
- Working knowledge of materials and treatments
- Specification and procurement of components and materials
- Management of subcontractors
- Providing technical guidance for integration and performing testing activities
- Assisting with schedule and cost estimation
- Identifying opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings
Qualifications:
Required
- BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and at least 7 years experience in the detail design of aerospace fluid systems and components
- Applicants must be proficient in 3D CAD programs (Pro/Engineer and Pro/Engineer Piping module experience preferred) and GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard
- Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control and a working knowledge of components such as valves, regulators, bellows and fittings
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or otherwise able to review all export-controlled technical information
Desired
- Knowledge of use of FEA analysis tools (ANSYS is preferred)
