Propulsion Design Engineer

Location: Kent, Washington

The Propulsion Design Engineer will be part of a team responsible for design and development of fluid systems that meet the requirements of Blue Origin's launch vehicle programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and test of launch vehicle fluid systems including propellant feed systems, pressurization systems, reaction control systems, etc.
  • Development of 3D models, assembly & detail drawings, and interface control documents
  • Working knowledge of materials and treatments
  • Specification and procurement of components and materials
  • Management of subcontractors
  • Providing technical guidance for integration and performing testing activities
  • Assisting with schedule and cost estimation
  • Identifying opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings

Qualifications:

Required

  • BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and at least 7 years experience in the detail design of aerospace fluid systems and components
  • Applicants must be proficient in 3D CAD programs (Pro/Engineer and Pro/Engineer Piping module experience preferred) and GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control and a working knowledge of components such as valves, regulators, bellows and fittings
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or otherwise able to review all export-controlled technical information

Desired

  • Knowledge of use of FEA analysis tools (ANSYS is preferred)
